3rd「Filth & Fire」(02)から " Walk Through The Fire " を私訳。彼女は気になる歌詞を書くミュージシャンのひとりです。Mary Gauthier の人生は出生時から孤児院に預けられることからはじまり、薬物、アルコール中毒に陥り、人生の影を歩くことになってしまう。現状をなんとかして変えたいと思った彼女は作詞をすることで自身を見つめ直そうと97年に創作活動を開始。彼女が35歳の時だった。そんな彼女の過去を知ったうえで今回の歌詞を読むと、この曲は彼女が「自身の過去への葬送曲」として書いた曲のような気がします。
