Aimee Mann - One

映画「マグノリア」(99) は、エイミー・マンの曲を気に入った監督が曲からストーリーを膨らませて企画されたもの。188分と長い映画ですが、家族や自分の周りの人達についてよく描かれていて、観るたびに考えさせられるものがあります。

今回は同映画のサントラから " One " を私訳。オリジナルはハリー・ニルソンによって69年に書かれたのですが、この映画に収録するのにあたって部分的に歌詞が書き換えられています。映画のサントラには彼女以外にもスーパートランプ、ガブリエル、ジョン・ブリオンの曲が収録され、彼女の曲の何曲かは自身のアルバム「バチェラーNo.2」(00) にも収録。エイミー・マン、彼女は活動暦の長い人ですが、その歌詞の表現は一貫してシニカル。だけどどこかしら優さを感じさせる歌詞を書く人ですね。
