ロックと握手したのがボブ・マーリーなら、ポップスと握手したのがジミー・クリフって感じ。彼の音楽はとても陽気で口ずさみたくなる楽しさがあるけど、その歌詞とメロディーが優しく陽気なのは、それだけジャマイカの現実が厳しいものだからかも知れない。映画「The Harder They Come」(72) も必見！
