Sting - Moon Over Bourbon Street
スティングのソロ・アルバム「The Dream of the Blue Turtles」(85) から " Moon Over Bourbon Street " を私訳。歌詞を訳していて彼が取り上げる題材として「ヴァンパイア」は「らしくないな」と思ってたら、どうやらアン・ライスの小説「夜明けのヴァンパイア」を読んで書きたくなったのだそうだ。だから今回訳すにあたってこの小説を原作として作られた映画「インタビュー・ウィズ・ヴァンパイア」(94) を見返してみたのだけど、これはヴァンパイアの悲哀というよりもホモセクシャルがテーマだろう。ヴァンパイアの悲哀なら萩尾望都の漫画「ポーの一族」が素晴らしい。
