Sting - Shape Of My Heart

スティングの5枚目のソロ・アルバム「Ten Summoner's Tales」（93）から ” Shape Of My Heart ” を私訳。この曲は映画「レオン」　　のエンディングの印象が強く、純愛物語の歌詞なのかと勝手に思っていましたが、実際に訳した印象では「カードをしている時には決断が出来るのにプライベートではその決断が持てない」「勝負の分析に夢中になるがあまりに愛を逃してしまう」悲劇に感じました。

今回訳すにあたっていろいろ調べてみるとトランプのマークが意味するものは何通りかの解釈があったのですが、スティングの歌詞になぞらえると、スペード＝剣、クラブ＝棍棒、ダイヤ＝貨幣となり、残ったハートを聖杯とするラテンタイプの説　で考えてみました。

ダイヤが意味するのは技術への報酬なのも知っているけど

ハートが意味するものは僕の心の形ではなかった

スペードのクイーンを置くかもしれない
